An IV vitamin drip is an intravenous infusion given by medical staff in about 30 to 60 minutes. At Clínica Hispana Nueva Salud Pasadena it is ordered after a brief evaluation, with no appointment, and paired with a vitamin B12 injection when needed.

What is an IV vitamin drip?

An infusion that enters through an IV line in the arm and goes straight into the blood, bypassing the stomach. The medical team orders it according to the reason for the visit and your history, after a brief evaluation; it is not the same for everyone and is never given without that review.

When can it help?

With dehydration from heat, vomiting, diarrhea or too much alcohol; after a flu or infection that left you weak; during periods of tiredness with poor eating; and in people with a confirmed vitamin deficiency who do not absorb pills well. In those cases it replaces fluids and vitamins faster than by mouth. It does not replace treatment for an illness or a proper diet, and it does not "burn fat" or "detox": we do not promise that.

Who should not receive it?

People with kidney or heart failure, because the extra fluid harms them; pregnant women without a medical indication; and anyone allergic to one of the components. That is why, before the infusion, the medical team checks your blood pressure, history and medications, and orders a lab test if appropriate.

Does it hurt, or have side effects?

You feel the prick of the IV line and sometimes coolness in the arm while the infusion runs. A small bruise may remain at the site. Major reactions are rare, which is why the infusion is done at the clinic with staff present the whole time.

What about the vitamin B12 injection?

It is given into the muscle in seconds and is indicated when blood B12 is low or there are risk factors: a vegetarian diet, age over 50, metformin, antacids or stomach surgery. The General Blood Test with Vitamin B12 package costs $99 and includes the general blood test, the B12 injection and a review of your results. To learn what the shot is like and how often it is given, read our vitamin B12 guide.

How much does an IV vitamin drip cost in Pasadena?

The price depends on the mix; we give it to you by phone at (281) 747-8817 before you come. No health insurance is needed; we accept cash and cards.

What is the visit like?

Walk in from 9 AM to 9 PM, hydrated and having eaten something. After the evaluation, you sit comfortably during the infusion, 30 to 60 minutes, and walk out afterward. If the physician detects an underlying cause, such as anemia or an altered thyroid, it is studied with blood tests.
