Gynecology Care: Pap Smear & Cultures
  • Pap smear and gynecological checkup
  • Vaginal cultures
  • Treatment of vaginal infections
  • Private care in Spanish

Gynecological care in Spanish or English, with no appointment and the privacy it deserves. At Clínica Hispana Nueva Salud Pasadena the Pap smear, cultures, testing and treatment of infections are done at the same visit, and each step is explained before it happens.

Which gynecology services does the clinic offer?

Pap smear and HPV test; vaginal and urine cultures; diagnosis and treatment of yeast or bacterial vaginal infections and urinary infections; sexually transmitted infection tests; pregnancy test and initial prenatal visit; contraception counseling with pills or the injection started here and guidance on the other methods; subdermal implant removal; pelvic ultrasound; and menopause evaluation. If a case requires surgery or a specialist, we guide the referral.

How often is a Pap smear done?

From age 21, every 3 years if the result is normal. Between 30 and 65 it can be combined with an HPV test and spaced to every 5 years. After 65, with previous normal results, it is usually stopped. If you had an abnormal result, the physician sets the interval. Before the sample, avoid sex, douching and vaginal suppositories for 48 hours and try not to come during your period.

What if I have discharge, itching or burning?

A culture or rapid test is taken and in most cases treatment starts the same day: suppositories, cream or pills depending on the cause. Symptoms that mimic each other, such as yeast, bacterial vaginosis and urinary infection, are told apart by the test, not by eye, so you are not treated for the wrong thing. If the infection keeps coming back, causes such as diabetes or hormonal changes are looked for.

Do you test and treat STIs?

Yes, with the same confidentiality as the rest of the visit. Tests for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, HIV and others are done according to your situation, and treatment is prescribed at the same clinic once the result confirms it. No immigration status is requested and no information is shared with third parties.

How much does a gynecology visit cost in Pasadena?

The published prices are those of the current promotions: Complete Women's Checkup for $179, which includes a pelvic ultrasound, Pap smear, urine test and a free medical visit; and Women's Intimate Health for $69, with an intimate culture, medical visit and free urine test. For a single visit or test, call (281) 747-8817. No health insurance is needed.

What is the visit like?

Walk in from 9 AM to 9 PM. The visit starts with a conversation about your cycle, your birth control and your symptoms; the exam is done only if needed and is explained first. You may bring someone with you. You leave with treatment or with the date to review results.
